Overland Vehicle Systems Lohtse Clamshell Roof Top Tent, 2-Person, Grey/Black

The OVS XD Lohtse is a clamshell hard-shell roof top tent built around an aircraft-grade aluminum shell with an aluminum honeycomb base — strong, weather-tight, and light enough that two nitrogen gas-charged struts handle the open and close in 2 minutes flat. Closed dimensions are 84 x 52 x 8 inches; once open it stretches to 57 inches of standing headroom. The expandable hinge design pushes that headroom higher than a fixed-hinge shell, and the built-in crossbars give you a functional mounting surface for solar panels or bike transport while the tent is deployed or stowed.

The shell seals to a military-spec waterproof grade, and the 320G rip-stop poly-cotton body is lined with a blackout interior coating. A 2.0-inch high-density foam mattress and an anti-condensation mat are included — no add-on bedding kit required. The sleeping area measures 76 x 44.5 inches for two occupants, and there is enough interior space to store bedding when the tent is closed.

We also like that OVS includes a winter insulation kit in the box. Most hard-shell tents treat cold-weather use as an afterthought; this one ships ready for it. Window screens are 120G environmental fadeless breathable gauze, and the hardware, storage rack, and heavy-duty nylon handles are all included at 210 lbs. total. Soap and water is all it takes to clean the shell.
