The ICON V.S. 2.5 Series Internal Reservoir Front Coilover delivers 0–3 inches of front lift for the 1995–2004 Toyota Tacoma (SR5, DLX, Pre Runner, Limited trims) and 1996–2002 Toyota 4Runner. This kit is built around a 2.5-inch cadmium-plated steel shock body with a 7/8-inch shaft and 5.36 inches of travel — specs that meaningfully outpace the factory setup. Digressive valving is calibrated specifically for these platforms, not pulled from a generic tune. Included 650 lb/in linear coil springs are ready to run out of the box.
We like that this unit is fully rebuildable — service parts including the 2.5 IFP rebuild kit and 7/8-inch replacement shaft are available separately, which matters for long-term cost of ownership. CNC-machined 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum components and FK rod end bearings keep deflection low and durability high.
One hard requirement: aftermarket front upper control arms are mandatory. ICON's 58500DJ Billet UCA or 58400DJ Tubular UCA are the verified bolt-in pairings for this application. On wheels, OEM fitment is confirmed; ICON Alloys in 17x8.5 or 18x9 at 0mm offset are the recommended upgrade spec. Tire clearance runs to 33x11.50 — larger rubber may fit with fender trimming. Round out the suspension with ICON 2.0 or 2.5 Aluminum Series rear shocks for balanced damping front to rear.
